David, one of the true masterpieces of the Renaissance. Michelangelo's David was sculpted from 1501 to 1504 and is considered one of Michelangelo's two greatest works of sculpture, along with the Pietà. The statue depicts the young Israelite king David nude and alone is one of the most recognizable stone sculpture in the history of art.
